Fall is here and do you know what that means? Pumpkin flavors are EVERYWHERE!
Not that I’m complaining because I really do love pumpkin. Pumpkin lattes, pumpkin muffins, and pumpkin butter. Yum!
This spiced apple and pear smoothie is a perfect way to taste the other flavors of fall. Yes, there are flavors besides pumpkin in the fall. 🙂 So, if you’re looking for a break from the pumpkin madness or if you just don’t like pumpkin this may be the perfect smoothie for you.
This smoothie is absolutely delicious. It’s a thick and rich smoothie that tastes like apple pie. But it’s sooooo much better for you than apple pie. It’s packed with fiber to keep you full for a long time helping you to lose weight. Desert flavors and weight loss? I’d call that a win-win!

Apples are a very good source of fiber and vitamin C. They have anti-inflammatory and cardiovascular benefits. Apples are also known for their blood sugar regulation benefits by slowing down carbohydrate digestion and reducing glucose absorption. Most of an apple’s nutrients are in the skin so be sure to leave the skin on the apple when blending.
The skin of pears contains at least three to four times as many phytonutrients as the flesh. Whether you are eating them whole or blending them in smoothies be sure to have the skin, too!
Pears are a very good source of dietary fiber and a good source of copper, vitamin C and vitamin K.
Pears have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant health benefits. Because of their high fiber content, pears might help protect against the development of type 2 diabetes.
Cinnamon contains high amounts of manganese, fiber and calcium. The essential oils in cinnamon contain antimicrobial properties. Cinnamon can slow the rate that the stomach empties after meals, reducing the rise in blood sugar after eating.
Cloves are an excellent source of manganese and are a very good source of vitamin K and fiber. They are also a good source of iron, magnesium, and calcium. Cloves contain eugenol and flavonoids that have anti-inflammatory properties.
