I love the combination of sesame and apple in salads, so I thought they might be nice in a smoothie. I was right! The flavors in this sesame apple green smoothie combine to make a refreshing summer meal.
In addition to being cool, light, and refreshing this smoothie is packed with health benefits. Kale has amazing anti-inflammatory, energy boosting and stress reduction benefits. It is also packed with fiber and protein to help your smoothie keep you full longer.
Apples are loaded with antioxidants and fiber. They also contain high levels of Boron – a mineral that helps in building bones.
Kale has a strong flavor to it. If you are new to green smoothies, I’d recommend you don’t start with one that has kale in it. Having said that, the flavors in this smoothie blend really well and the kale is not overpowering. This is a good smoothie for easing your way into kale smoothies. Removing the stems from kale helps to make the texture smoother.
By adding protein powder and fiber supplement to this smoothie you create a nutritious and filling weight loss smoothie.

Sesame Apple Green Smoothie
- 1 apple, cored
- 1 cup kale, packed. Remove the stems for smoother blending.
- 1/4 tsp ginger powder
- 1/2 tbsp sesame seeds
- 1/4 tsp vanilla powder or extract (optional, skip this if you are using vanilla protein powder)
- 1 serving vanilla protein powder (optional, the one I use can be found here)
- 3/4 cup water
- 4 to 5 ice cubes
For extra fiber add 1 tbsp chia seeds
Put all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
Pour into your favorite glass and enjoy!
