Find the recipe on BetterMeforLife.comThis mango raspberry mint flax smoothie is one of my new favorite smoothies. It’s thick and creamy and I love the combination of mango and raspberry with mint. The added flaxseeds make a great thickener and boost omega-3 fatty acids, fiber and protein.

You don’t need to read the guide to make this mango raspberry mint flax smoothie, though. I’ve got you covered.

Be sure to use ground flaxseeds in your smoothies (sometimes called flaxseed meal). If you have the whole flaxseeds try to grind them up a bit in the blender before making your smoothie. It will help you to get the more health benefits from them.

Health Benefits

Mango

One cup of mango has 100 calories, 100% of your daily vitamin C recommendation and 35% of your vitamin A daily recommendation. One cup also contains 12% of your daily fiber recommendation.

Raspberry

Raspberries are high in vitamin C, manganese, and fiber. Raspberries also have powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits.

Mint (spearmint)

In addition to having a wonderful smell and flavor spearmint contains vitamins, nutrients, and antioxidants. It also has many health benefits attributed to it including heart health, immunity, digestion, energy, and relaxation/stress reduction.

Flaxseed

Flaxseeds will give your smoothie an omega-3 fatty acid, fiber, and protein boost.

Omega-3 fatty acids promote cardiovascular and immune system health, brain and joint function, soft skin, and a lot more. Fiber supports a healthy colon, helps to regulate blood sugar, and makes you feel full for longer. When you feel full for longer you may snack less. This can help a lot when you are trying to lose weight.

Mango Raspberry Mint Flax Smoothie

Serves 1

  • 1/2 cup mango chunks, fresh or frozen
  • 1/2 cup raspberries, fresh or frozen
  • 2 large mint leaves, or 2 tsp dried mint
  • 3 tbsp ground flaxseed
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla powder or extract (optional, skip this if you are using vanilla protein powder)
  • 1 serving vanilla protein powder (optional, the one I use can be found here)
  • 3/4 cup water (you’ll need more if using fresh fruit)
  • 4 – 5 ice cubes (skip the ice if using frozen fruit)

Tip

Directions

Put all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
