I have to admit this chocolate pear smoothie recipe is inspired by some whole food recipes I found online. I mean, yum. I’ll warn you… if you search for chocolate pear walnut you may get sucked into looking at recipes for hours – like I did.
I’m happy to say that this smoothie recipe is a lot friendlier to your diet than most of the whole food recipes I stumbled upon online. In fact, it’s packed with fiber and can actually help you lose or maintain your weight. And it tastes very, very yummy.
You can try variation on this chocolate pear smoothie recipe: try it with or without walnuts, or add in 1 tsp of coconut oil. You can also try adding in some greens, like 1 cup of spinach.

Chocolate Pear Smoothie
- 1 ripe pear, cored. When I can’t find good pears at the store I buy canned pears in water (not in syrup), estimating how many slices would make up about one pear.
- 2 tbsp cacao powder
- 1/8 cup walnuts, chopped
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1 serving chocolate protein powder (optional, the one I use can be found here)
- 1/2 to 3/4 cup water
- 3 to 4 ice cubes
For extra fiber add 1 tbsp chia seeds.
Put all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
Pour into your favorite glass and enjoy!
