For those of you who shy away from using kale in smoothies because of its strong flavor, this chocolate cucumber pear green smoothie is for you. (Kale lovers will love this recipe, too. Chocolate is a bonus!). Adding the sweetness of chocolate in this smoothie helps to take the edge off of the kale.
Kale is loaded with beneficial nutrients and is often called a superfood. It is high in antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits, and provides cardiovascular support. 1 cup of kale is only 36 calories and provides high levels of vitamin K, vitamin A, vitamin C and manganese.
Be sure to leave the skin on the pear for this smoothie. The skin contains at least three to four times as many phytonutrients as the flesh – including antioxidant and anti-inflammatory flavonoids. The skin also contains about half the pear’s total dietary fiver.
Cucumbers also provide antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits, and a good amount of vitamin K.
To make the smoothie blend smoother, remove the stems from the kale and peel the cucumber.

Chocolate Cucumber Pear Green Smoothie
For extra fiber add 1 tbsp chia seeds
Put all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
Pour into your favorite glass and enjoy!
